Most significant championships of the decade

Some championships mean more than others. Tom Brady's fourth Super Bowl (tying Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw) and fifth (surpassing them) mean more than his six (an add-on). Major League Baseball, the NHL, and theNBA have 30 teams each, and the NFL has 32. The average fan will enjoy a championship from his favorite team only two or three times in his lifetime. Some a lot more, some a lot less. For less-fortunate fan bases, then, the championship means a lot. Fans of dynastic teams may forget the kind of details that are the stuff of legend to fans who enjoy just one championship. The NBA MVP Formula: a Proposal

REVISED October 28, 2019 to change the scoring system. My best-laid plans for tracking the football season MVP race went by the wayside (although it's recoverable, if I have the time and there's a demand for it). I would like to try again with the NBA. Every game, the winning team's top four players will get "MVP points." The victor's top player of the night would get six points, the 2nd-best gets five points, the 3rd gets four points, and the fourth gets three points. In other words, the "top four" of a (typically 8-man) rotation gets credit as being major contributors to the victory. (The rest of the team won't get MVP points for that victory that day; supporting casts and role players normally aren't MVPs anyway.) How would I determine the top four players? A very simple formula: the player's minutes played plus +/-, which is the point differential of the two teams while the player is on the floor. Nobody on the losing team...

NBA MVP Update and Revision

I've been unable to track my MVP chase since Christmas Eve . But the data I had collected suggested to me an even simpler approach could be used. I'm still using minutes played, +/-, and games won as the criteria, with no regard to points, assists, turnovers, or other box-score material. If you're logging minutes, the coach thinks you're valuable. +/-,the stat showing the points the team scores minues the points it allows while you're on the floor , suggests how good the team plays when you're playing, regardless of whether your actions are measureable on stat sheets. The purpose is to win, so one's value should be measured not only in how well one plays, but in how that helps the team win. Instead of tracking every game, I decided to look at the leaders in minutes plus +/-.
