The NCAA Men's Basketball Top 50, Final

The NCAA Tournament was cancelled this year because of the Coronavirus. The approaching weekend would have featured the Final Four.

As a result, good teams are left with how they fared in conference standings, and their ranking in the Top 25 according to the AP and Coaches polls. I have chosen to do my own ranking, without consulting those polls, although I have extended it to 50. I used the methodology I would use if I had a vote in the polls.

Following each team in my ranking is where they landed in the major polls. When the team is beyond their Top 25, I include their "ranking" in the order of "others receiving votes."

The biggest discrepancies are that I've favored some mid-majors that the mainstream voters haven't paid attention to, and some "Power" teams, notably Virginia and Michigan State, that I seem to highly undervalue.

The way I viewed it, some teams were dominant enough to overcome a relatively weak schedule to rate them highly, and others were not very dominant even if their schedule was difficult. It's unfortunate the tournament couldn't have been played so that we could find out.
