NFL MVP Chase through December 9, 2019

There are no MVP candidates in tonight's Giants-Eagles game, so we can update the standings today.

A player earns an MVP point if:
  • His team wins the game
  • He personally had a good game in the win. It doesn't have to be a "great" game; for a quarterback it's a passer rating of 97.0 or higher, for backs and receivers it's 85 yards from scrimmage.
Here are the top contenders. With just three games now left for every player, I narrowed the field to those who reasonably have a chance.  Ties are listed alphabetically.

1. Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens, 11-2, 10 MVP points
2. Kirk Cousins, QB, Vikings, 9-4, 9
3. Chris Carson, RB, Seahawks, 10-2, 8
3. Michael Thomas, WR, Saints, 10-2, 8
3. Russell Wilson, QB, Seahawks 8-2,
6. Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings, 9-4, 7
6. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, 49ers, 11-2, 7
6. Derrick Henry, RB, Titans, 8-5, 76. Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs, 9-4, 7
