If LeBron moves, it should be to New York

David Fizdale, whom LeBron James likes, is the new Head Coach of the New York Knicks.  And the Knicks intend to clear out cap space this summer.

We keep hearing speculation that LeBron might head to the 76ers or Lakers if his Cavs fail to with the Finals. 76ers because of it talented, the Lakers because of business opportunities.

I don't see the benefit in either. LeBron will screw up the chemistry in Philadelphia. If he joins, the 76ers will become his team. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid will become 2nd and 3rd fiddles, which they are clearly not, and will get all the blame if the team fails to win it all.

And the Lakers? LeBron knows his best chance to win the Finals is to get to the Finals, and while a LeBron-led Lakers will become instant contenders, there's little reason to think they'd get past the Warriors of Rockets in the Western Conference.

And what if he does? He'd probably have to win three or four championships in a row for us to remember he even played there. There's nothing he can do that will make people think he's the greatest Laker of all time.

But the Knicks? That's the Holy Grail of American team sports. If he plays three or four years and wins  just one title, he'd go down as the greatest Knick in history. He'd own the town like few have. I think there are even more opportunities there than in L.A., and there's no stopping him from doing Hollywood things in the off-season or after retirement.

With Kristaps Porzingis and Lebron, the Knicks would be favorites to go to the finals. And if he follows up getting Cleveland a title with getting get the Knicks a title, LeBron's legend will grown to the highest levels. If he wants to leave Cleveland, New York is the best place.
